Apr. 19th, 2004 03:47 pmWe got a late start Friday but we had dinner with Lia and the kids. On the way to Lia's we stopped by the accident site from Labor Day. Found a cross up and some flowers. Attached to the cross was a couple teddy bears. Andrew Elias, Born May 27th, 1998, and died Sept. 1st, 2003. Stace and I knew the last part. I took a couple photos, debris still there, and of the cross, I'll post it sometime soon. How freaky, his Birthday was the same as mine, May 27th.
After getting some very much needed food and sleep Friday night, we were up Saturday at 2 different times... FIRST because the kids turned on TV as we tried to sleep, and the second when we were actually ready to start the day. We left about 1pm for Oceanside, but bad weather meant we were creeping along, so instead of seeing my other sister Bobbi, we went direct to San Diego to the Elephant Bar. Debbie was just, like Debbie. You have to meet her to understand! It was a good lunch. After, it was time to find a trolley stop so we could get to the Padre game. After choosing 1 stop north of Old Town, we boarded the train and went to the ballpark.
It's a nice park. I don't think the team deserves it, but it's pretty sweet. Lots of stands, good food, large drinks, good seats, nice view of airplanes landing in the background. I'm surprised it doesn't bother batters. After scoring 3 runs in the top of the first, we didn't score again. BUT, we held them to a 2 run homer and won.
Fuck SDPD.
Then we got back to Mom's and stayed up talking until about 1 am. We got up the next morning, and had breakfast thanks to Stace at BB's (now the Oceanside Cafe). When we hit LA, we saw a couple Aerospace engineer friends of Stacey's at USC, and it was off to the North Bay... We got home at about midnight, stayed up a little, then offffff to bed.
Tonight, get ready for a meeting with the squad, let them know about Tactical to Practical's wish to cover our SAREX, and plan an actual day for a command/general staff meeting. BOY OH BOY, the fun never stops!
