WEEKEND UPDATE...

Ok, Saturday I start off by SLEEPING IN. I had to get Erica, drunk off her ass, at 4am from a friends house. She kinda blew me off when we were scheduled to study that day. Pissed me off a little bit, but shit happens. I just don't like being blown off, when I re-arrange my study time around you, you know what I mean?

Anyway, after being cried on till 5AM, we slept, and then it was time to wake up WAY too soon, and get to studying. We got through a chapter, then it was time for me to get out to Sebastapol for Stacey's NA Unity Day. I was happy to go, looking forward to it. On my way, My classic ability to find trouble hit again. I got to be a Firefighter for an hour, here's how it happened.

I saw smoke in the distance, and it was RIGHT where I was going anyway. So, I drive into the hills to find some back yards burning, and some homes about to get totally gutted. I pick up a hose, and put down some of the burning brush, water down some surrounding areas... then realize there were now some fires BEHIND me. Yes, behind me. You have to be far more careful then I was, or things like that will get you before you know it. Hot embers were starting new small fires all around. It was time to retreat. As I left the area, an engine came in and hosed the area real good. From there, smelling like a burnt twig, it was off to Unity Day.

I was there for about 1.5 hours, then I got a call from Capt. Felton. ELT, Sonoma Skypark area, he's going to a play, won't accept the mission as Incident Commander if he doesn't have a solid team before act 1. Yes, of course I accepted, what else did you think I'd say? I was feeling like Mr. Badass hero type, so I accepted and got a team to go to Sonoma. I was there by 7pm. It was DARK, it was SPOOKY, and I was alone for the first hour. And then I found in the midst of the blowing wind, darkness, and creaking metal hangars, nailed to the bottom of a tree-

Freaky huh? But that mask in the dark with the whine of metal hinges blowing in the wind, the sound of the ELT, in the darkness all alone, surrounded by nothing but old airplanes and the feeling someone, something was watching you. That mask was nailed to the bottom of a tree was all that was looking at me.

Monday, I stayed home sick, then went to teach the cadets how to track an emergency beacon. I was feeling up to that barely and had promised I'd do it. so I followed through. Went home, studied, slept, and at 5pm Tuesday took over as the California WAMO (I love military acronyms) Wing Alert Mission Officer. You gotta start an emergency call somewhere, and it starts in California with the WAMO. That's the only person the Air Force calls to start a search mission. From there, the rest of the magic happens. Until 5pm tomorrow, that person is me. I know, I need a life. But hey, it makes me happy, I love the rush of the start of a mission, and even if it's in So Cal I'm involved in it for the next day, so, cool!

Hazmat tonight. I found my books, I lost them in my own truck under my CAP supply bag. I know, I'm a fucking idiot.

Move along people, there's nothing to see here.
