Busy day...
Feb. 26th, 2004 02:12 pmI call the IC, accept the assignment, find out who else is working it, an get to the Airport to see if I can hear anything... Nothing doing. SO, it's off for home to get my radio (I left it at home on purpose actually, I didn't forget it!!!). After that, it's Novato, nothing there either. Then back to Petaluma, nothing, then the sats say it's now WEST, 7 miles from Petaluma... great, away we go into the rolling hills chasing a ghost.
We cross half flooded roads, thinking to ourselves, "Ok, now what if it rains before we get back?" lol We drive 100 miles around Sonoma chasing this signal, nothing doing anywhere. UNTIL, we find this little area where the needle goes off scale. I (for the 20th time) step out and take readings... and it points at a little house off the roadway in... I can't even remember the lil town's name, like, Bellflower, or something. ANYWAY, we go north, and find a signal tucked in a little valley between 2 hills... And it turns out that was it. If I hasn't gotten out of the car to do a good investigation, we never would've found it. Lightening all over the sky, occasional downpours, and still, I was in and out and in and out (sounds like sex lol) of the car taking readings and looking for a hot spot. It ended up being someone's DISH NETWORK systems, bouncing a signal into space... Can you believe that shit??? 8 hours of searching to find an emergency distress... TV DISH. Well hey, I'm 6 for 6 this year at least, 6 of 6 local missions I've been on, we got finds, and the 7th mission is in So Cal and I couldn't go since I was training people that night, so I sent Greg, Tom, and Sam to that missing plane search. I had 6 missions all of last year, I have 6 in 2 months this year.
BUSY LATELY, hmmmmmm?
Test tonight in cardiac arrythmias... wish me luck.
