How about, "I'm sorry Mike, a wiring fault which is a major shock hazard is worth looking into since I bought the batteries to help us and not to get you killed."
I'm so sorry my safety has slowed down the business for a minute. BTW, the issue isn't that it's a battery thing. It's that it took the battery's fault warning light to enlighten us to the fact that It's a bad situation and needs to be fixed. I expect an apology.
